Locals say a lifetime isn’t long enough to see the Daintree but your eagle-eyed wildlife guides have the skills to spot everything from forest dragons to cassowaries. They will introduce you to plants and animals that most day trip visitors never lay eyes on. Enjoy the tranquil Low Isles encircled with pristine lettuce-like coral, shoals of colourful fish and turtles. Afterwards Aboriginal guides will take you foraging before you indulge in fascinating rainforest foods and culture.

Itinerary

Day 1 Starting in Port Douglas, you’ll join a sailing vessel for a snorkelling trip to the Low Isles, one of the most pristine areas of the Great Barrier Reef. Extraordinary coral outcrops and an underwater rainbow of tropical reef fish are the feature of this day.

Day 2 After a night in Port Douglas, you’ll pick up your hire car and drive to Cooya Beach to meet your Aboriginal guide for an insight into their culture and connection to the beaches, coasts and wildlife. In the afternoon, you'll drive to Mossman Gorge for afternoon tea, tastings and an exclusive guided tour by specialists in plants from Indigenous rainforest cultures. Our guides have created a fascinating ‘Noah's ark’ of exotic plants. You’ll finish your day in the Daintree at a lovely cabin in the rainforest.

Day 3-4 A boat ride on the Daintree River with your nature expert is a good start before a private walk with a man whose garden is part of the World Heritage Area for more than a quarter of a century. overnight at an exclusive rainforest retreat where you’ll enjoy the hospitality of its Franco-Australian owner. Your return to Port Douglas will be via Emmogen Creek (the start of famed Bloomfield Track); a Boardwalk tour and a walk on Cape Tribulation beach where the Reef meets the rainforest.

Day 5 Depart Port Douglas and return hire car to Cairns airport before departing.
